Allergen Free Dining Options
MMA Dining understands that to maximize students' dining experience, there must be a variety of options for all students, regardless of any dietary restrictions they may have.
Below you will find some of the options available to students for a variety of dietary accommodations. Also, in addition to utilizing the programs we have available, students are also encouraged to contact the Dining Services Registered Dietitian, Chelsea Yates (email@example.com) to ensure their dining needs are being met.
My Zone is a "pantry" where food items needed by customers with celiac disease or food allergies involving gluten, peanuts and tree nuts can be housed free cross-contamination. This unique area gives students the ability to be involved in the safe preparation of allergen-free meals. Examples of products available in My Zone include gluten-free bread, muffins, wraps, and desserts, lactose-free milk and other milk alternatives, individual packets of butter, cream cheese and jelly. Students are encouraged to reach out to a dining staff member if they have particular food item requests.
Sodexo’s Dining Services at Maine Maritime Academy offer many options to serve dietary needs. Standard food selections include those for students seeking allergy accommodation, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets (to name a few). We encourage students to speak to a member of the Sodexo management team and to refer to the dining website to identify nutritional content:
Students who need a formal dietary accommodation can access the Request for Dietary Accommodation form HERE. Students may schedule an informal dietary consultation with a Sodexo management team member at any time during the semester to address questions regarding food preparation, standard ingredients, and the offerings of the various dining stations. For questions regarding available options, ingredients, or cooking methods, it is important to ask a member of the management staff.
